-We’ve partnered with Social Good Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization to make Better Finds work. When you purchase an item on Better Finds, you pay conveniently in-app and the money goes straight to Social Good Fund, who distributes payments to the correct charities. - How can I trust that cash paid for my item through Better Finds will go to the charity I chose?
-We never touch money paid through Better Finds. Social Good Fund handles all payments and ensures that each donation goes to the appropriate charity. -You can sell all kinds of things on Better Finds, but we’d ask you to try to find items that are $10 or more in value and are either in new, good or fixable condition. In terms of what denotes “fixable”, we define that as items that are $10 or more in value as-is and have a known way to be fixed. For example, an otherwise working 2001 Honda CR-V that needs a new transmission is perfectly fine to sell on Better Finds as long as you specify the condition in the description. Meanwhile, don’t sell your old VCR machine if it’s broken and there’s no way to fix it as it is likely not worth anything at that point. - How can I find items I want to buy on Better Finds?
-You can use the Nearby tab to see the newest items that have been posted in your area, there’s also a search bar in the Nearby tab that lets you search for items (i.e. “Xbox”). Another way to find items is to look in the My Cause tab: if you want to specifically support a charity by buying items that are being sold for that charity, just set a cause in that tab and you’ll see all products being sold in support of that charity. - Can I just use Better Finds online and not download the app?
-You can view items and message sellers on http://get.betterfinds.net, but to sell and buy items you’ll have to download the app. - Can I use my email to login to Better Finds instead of Facebook?
-Yes! We prefer using Facebook for logins as this makes it super easy to share your items on Facebook and let your friends know what you’re selling, but if you prefer you can use an email account to login to Better Finds instead. - What’s the best way to let people know I’m selling an item on Better Finds?
-Sharing the item on Facebook! Just click “Share” in the Better Finds app and post your item on Facebook. We also recommend telling people about your item you’re selling on Better Finds in real life! Just pull out your phone, open Better Finds and show what you’re trying to sell, and you may find that your friend would love to have that Nintendo 3DS you haven’t used since 2013. - How can I invite my friends to use Better Finds themselves?
-Go to your profile settings to find the “Share with Friends” button in the app. Tap that and you can share a link to download Better Finds to Facebook, or send a text, or send an email to anyone and everyone that you think would want to use Better Finds! - What should I do to make sure I’m safe when I meet up with someone who wants to purchase my item or that I want to purchase from?
-We recommend picking a public place to meet up to exchange items if you’re purchasing from someone you don’t know (Starbucks is our favorite!) However, if an item is too big to bring somewhere easily and you have to meet someone you don’t know at your house or their house, we recommend having a friend or family member along.
